President Obama, joined by Vice President Biden, announces $8 billion in Recovery Act funding for high-speed rail projects that will provide faster, more energy-efficient travel between cities and create new jobs for American workers. The announcement came during a Town Hall meeting in Tampa, FL. January 28, 2010.

How about removing most tax breaks from corporations that out source? This would force industry to employ in the country’s that they operate. This rail idea is only good if people have jobs to take a train, then its’ a great idea!
Outsourcing is one of the key problems, it needs to be addressed now!

High speed rail thats great another big waste of spending and riping off the tax payers just like flying around on expensive jets with all your crownies wasting fuel every place.Nobody is riding the rail transportations they have the ones they have are going broke that all we need is another broke railway system.Were are alll the real jobs not some rail transportation job that have people riding around in empty rail cars.Expensive electric cars oh those are really going sell what a joke.

Why do I have a strange feeling that this rail system is going to lead to the same rail system that led to AUZCHWITZ in **** germany. Creating a rail system, doesn’t mean it is going to be a public owned rail system, does it. Even though it will probably have thousands of out of work people working on it.
The US is not a rail-centric nation. Never has been, never will be. Blame Ike if you want.
This massive waste of money will accomplish nothing more than sinking us further in debt. And God knows, we don’t have enough debt.
After the government goes on a property condemnation spree to steal the land for this, no one will use it. And we will be forced to subsidize it.

yeah true because if we build more airports expand runways, and Buy more passenger aircraft, then the government going have to take your tax money, pay to the flight school all over the country, and use it for recruiting more airlines pilots because most people can afford the education on aviation.
Taxpayers subsidize Amtrac to the point that it would be cheaper to buy plane tickets for those traveling from CA to FL. I guess we’ll subsidize this new boondoggle to the point that it would be cheaper to give the passengers tickets on the concord.

Also if this is as awesome as the High Speed Rail here in Taiwan, America’s going to be hundreds of times cooler. Imagine if you could just hop on a train in west virginia and be in New York in a couple hours.
